Last time I was keeping up reading this we were still finding out where the party had been scattered to (hopefully that is vague enough to not be a spoiler).

And all that time ago, when I first found this story, it was this bit that made me truly hooked. You’re transported to a magical world that works like D&D! WOW! That’s amazing!

And it is all so terribly, viscerally, real…

Erin’s reaction isn’t that of some video game protagonist, it’s that of an actual person who’s found themselves in this situation. It brings this whole world to life, by simply acknowledging that yeah, that IS what it would be like to go from our world to that one, with wonder and horror both in abundance.

First time around this story made me outright laugh, brought me to tears, and in places creeped me the FUCK out. I look forward to rediscovering all those moments again.
