All of the calculations done by the mages early on with Ryoka’s help were using the door’s basic teleport feature, and they were using a poor anchor – a random mug from the inn. Switching the anchors to be actual mana stones (even if they are cheap ones) that are paired together and attached to doors to create semi-permanent portals would be a completely different set of calculations needed.

It also makes sense that more anchors could be used, as only one anchor is “active” at a time with the current setup. The previous tests and assumptions were made based on the idea of having a set of emergency teleport anchors all active at the same time.

The first sentence seems incompatible with the second. Possibly “he was waiting behind the army” or “he was watching from behind the army”.

Ruler or kingdom building stories like release that witch, rise of the noble, etc are examples of stories how their resources and planning are supposed to make things go their way.

Their overlay enchantment also changed the door from a straight up teleport to a walk through portal. I would imagine that is where their altercation is messing up most at considering none of the mages that made the it were real enchanters or have any proficiency in space magic. Fixing that should definitely lessen the overall mana cost which in turn would boost the range given that the estimated max range is based on mana spent and maximum mana charge.

If fixing the overlay enchantment doesn’t increase the range then yeah all they could hope for is someone being able to upgrade the actual door enchantment, the door getting a Skill boost from Erin, or editing the recipient anchor to boost the connection like Ulvama did.

And yeah there was supposed to be a limit on the number of anchor points but I would imagine that was increased around the time the gem dial system was added. That was also one of their earlier statements meaning they were probably off about that too.
