another good chapter, nothing quite like spashing horse dung upon noblos
and finished upon a, not quite nasty but still a cliffhanger.

“It can definitely be updated. But the core conceit? I like it. Emme, we should put this on.”

“The Watch Captain gave her a narced expression.” – “narced” should be spelled “narked” since I’m assuming you meant it in the annoyed sense of the word. Also, at one point you refer to Knight the Antinium as [Knight].

You wouldn’t typically need to bolt the doors down much because the doors are going to be heavy. None of the hollow-core modern doors like we have on Earth. The doors they use in the story are going to be solid wood, and have often been described as having metal reinforcements. Stick it in a frame and have the frame up against a wall, and you’re set.

A good, solid wooden door can typically weigh anywhere from 100-150 pounds, give or take. Add in some metal banding, and you’re probably up another 10-20 minimum.

While that doesn’t mean the door would be impossible to move, trying to lift and move such a heavy, bulky object is not going to be trivial for most people.

The only skill stated to be like that so far is Garden of Sanctuary

There might be others, but nothing else has been noted as yet in the story.

I believe the original point was that chess software isn’t installed by default on most computers. Not sure about MacOS, but at least for Windows and most Linux distros, chess isn’t going to available unless you download it. And unless you’re actually into chess, most people likely wouldn’t bother.

Some OEMs might have it installed along with all the other crapware they put in systems, but even that isn’t really consistent at all.

The chances of Kevin having a chess game on his laptop is rather small.
