Eh Zamea is an idiot tbh. Value is 100% subjective and impossible to determine at a glance. It’s also constantly changing minute to minute so it’s contextual as well. This chapter proves it at the end as a “valueless” group of gnolls and villagers spark a regional war.

Imagine Zamea meeting Octavia. She’d probably chalk her up as having marginal value or maybe slightly above the average stitch-person, but Octavia’s working on penicillin which would likely save ten thousand times the number of people Zamea could kill in her lifetime. So who’s more valuable to the world? And that’s the thing, any schmuck could be the next big thing.
And even if the odds of any individual being or doing the next big thing are infitismally low, they still impact and effect others.

Also, look at the awakened antinium. Their lives had almost no value even to their own people, but they’ve done and affected so much now in the story. I’m pretty confident that pawn is going to impact the world greater ways than Zamea ever will.
Anyway this rambling diatribe is just meant to say that trying to assign a objective value on an individual life is pointless. You can only really do it subjectively.

I wish Floss was real and that we could go somewhere and be welcomed. Those gnolls are us and I felt their pain.

Will take like three more audiobooks just for this book to be finished.

also lol, flos master strategist send some noobs at diplomacy to diplo with the freak city, mainly to repair the eye, but regardless of result some shit was gonna go down, and with casus belli on his favor. And one last raelt fav scene, what a chad.tfc

To me it seems like they were sacrificed. There is no way this would not have happened. With as many enemies as flos has, from rulers to normal ppl who may have lost home, family, friends, etc to his war. Surely not everyone would have had a safe trip. The king of destruction will have his war eventually, it was just a matter of who would slip up with the refugees/migrants.
He’s either cruel, or air headed, but is definitely an example of how an influential person can harm people whether they mean to or not. Definitely a drama king
