Definitely do not need to bring more Christianity into the world, that whole part is so cringey and just completely doesn’t belong. The storyline could have brought in religion as a general concept without having to throw in anything about Christianity. It would be brilliant to just tear all that out of the story altogether.

Do people actually skip chapters? I can’t imagine doing that, you’d miss so much. Do I groan inwardly every time a K chapter comes up? Yes absolutely, except for when I groan outwardly. They are definitely my least favourite. If I skipped them I’d miss things though.

Trey and the Venith exchanged a glance. When she put it like that—they hurried after Vaitsha.

and then the promise of hate is so short lived cuz the mad cannibals allowed one of the dogs free, not explained why it attacked trey, maybe the blood?, anyway the rest of it was more or less acceptable, but the hate and shock of nearly fucking died, died too quickkly and now apparently the qurras wrath takes precedence in trey mind, ah, why.
a quick scene of trey pushing down the qurras would have been welcome, sigh.
thanks for half the chapter.

They werent teleporting in to murder stab our boy and girls, and I doubt we’re gonna have a few pages of “and then hundreds of dogs start apparating into Flos’s palace” so I doubt they’re 1-1 copies.

When Trey saw it he didn’t know there was a body under the head

I find it likely he doesn’t know exactly what it is, but rather that he just recognizes it as some sort of Cthulu-style monster.

I myself know very little about Lovecraftian lore, but even for me, that was one of the first things I thought of just from the description. I’m sure it would have been an even easier guess if I actually saw the thing like Trey did.

You assume that eating the flesh of A’ctelios would produce waste at all. Waste is a byproduct of our bodies not being able to process parts of what we eat. Dead flesh from an eldritch horror might be 100% usable by a body transformed by consuming it.

Besides that, though, they could just toss it out in the desert to dry, and then use it as fuel. Dried fecal matter is used in a lot of places instead of wood – and being in the middle of a desert, they probably have a distinct lack of wood, and wouldn’t want to use what they do have just to light fires.

Liquid waste could be dealt with similarly, flowing through pipes out into that desert and then just evaporated.

It’s actually possible their poison is some form of radiation with a very limited travel distance. Targeted radiation exposure can kill cells – hence the use as a cancer treatment – and inhibit healing – which may be why healing potions don’t work on creler poison. It would likely have to have some extremely quick half-life, so that it isn’t an outright death sentence.

Long-term exposure when it is made into weapons or armor would be extremely dangerous over time, even without the danger of eggs. If it was only their poison that was substantially radioactive, the chitin and flesh might be weak enough that it wouldn’t kill you outright from just fighting them. Eggs growing out of seemingly completely dead chitin and other creler parts could be a product of mutation of cells triggering specific asexual reproduction methods.
