You could give me 20 consecutive Erin chapters and I would love it.

Yes and no.

The door itself would be very safe, as only those permitted could enter the garden to use it.

But by that very same logic, she would have to allow anyone she wanted able to use it entry to the garden. If any panic situation happens that needs the door, everyone going through would have to access the garden. And since Erin should be the only one that can change permissions, if she were gone from the inn – say, she was in Pallass during a wyvern attack – she would have no idea who to allow through to help.

And if she allows someone inside the garden who isn’t actually a good person, the garden is now compromised and no longer safe.

I could imagine it being as simple as fees to use the door, fines if Numbtongue or any Antinium come through, possibly export fees on Octavia for anything she wants to sell in Liscor.

But, most importantly, fees to be paid to Celum if she wants to have the Players use her inn. The Players were, after all, the straw that broke the camel’s back for the mayor, in the first place.

With the use of truth spells, if she can successfully get passed the main ones mentioned, asking over and over wouldn’t really help – you’d assume she either truly had nothing to do with a given crime, or she can evade all of the questions. Four lies would be plenty.

The reason cops on Earth have to ask questions multiple times is because we don’t have anything like truth spells. They have to rely on someone slipping up when a question is worded differently, or that they just give a different answer to the same question asked before.

Beilmark has been a senior guard for a while, this one was new, so not her.

Beautiful chapter. I loved Book 7 the most. Also Salis meeting with Erin is definitely start of heartwarming friendship.

My thoughts exactly. However, I wonder if there are similar limits, like with bags of holding? You know, never put a bag of holding inside of another bag of holding?
