Without giving away spoilers, almost all of the side stories do end up coming together eventually. While some chapters are certainly less important than others, if you are bothering to already read the 12+ million words in this story (at to the time of this comment), it would definitely behoove you to read the side story chapters. They are, in the grand scale of things, fairly short in comparison to the whole story, and usually will end up being worthwhile for the lore.

As of volume 8, this invasion of southern Izril ~150 years ago that Zelkyr defended against seems to have been replaced by the Naga Incursion. This tangent might need to be rewritten to adjust.

I have skipped or incredibly fast scanned most of the K chapters, after slogging through the first or first and second chapterd, when a new batch appears. The K brings dread to me. I feel safe skipping or speed reading. When they are out on Audible I will give it another try. I just can’t stand Flos, the two earthlings, Flos’ chosen, and the battles. Don’t get me wrong, I love Pirateaba’s writing, plotting and world building. I usually linger over every word. I think you are safe to skip.
