It’s also very interesting to see Az’kerash’s past, the scene with the illusion of the ballroom was beautiful. Pirateaba is really good at likeable villains.

He was basically at the pinnacle of magic at that point, and he’s now had centuries more time to learn even more. He’s had essentially 3 full average lifetimes worth of learning magic by this point in the story.

I’m guessing he’s using the whales as siege beasts to take on Zeres. It being a port city, it literally can’t have walls completely surrounding it. You could put up defenses of various kinds on the ocean side of the city, but fully sealing it off would be very difficult, unless the port area is just completely separate from the rest of the city (and thus outside the walls).

He’s not even actually referring to the planet as ‘Earth’, which would necessitate a capital for being a proper noun. He’s using the word ‘earth’ to mean more of ‘the land’, or in other words, the livable terrain of the planet.

On one hand, he has killed 100’s of thousands purely to make more powerful undead. On the other, the first thing he does after seeing deep-dish pizza is trying to make some for himself. Something even the foremost paragons of virtue struggle to do.

Showing back story and the parallels between the two necromancers. Maybe if dude had a team like the Horns, then he wouldn’t have ended up where he is now. That…or maybe he’s correct and Pisces will become like him in time. Maybe it’s the end game for all necromancers.

Chapters like this remind me why I keep coming back.

Pieces stared at it for a moment -> Pisces

it is an astounding obstinate text. -> astoundingly (maybe?)

No, from the creation of Toren, we can see that you can definitely use dead parts to create life. And using living components isn’t creating life, it is manipulating it.
He wants to create something capable of levelling. Not manipulate something that already is capable of that.
