My mom’s family was supposed to be from witches. Men never stayed around long. Her aunt killed her husband with a cast iron pan for abusing his daughter. My mom’s mom was stunningly beautiful but poor, and her multiple husbands abused her and one beat her to brain damage and blinded her before he left. She was still the best seamstress I’ve ever watched, and we brats would swap her colors around for fun. My grandmother’s aunt in law took care of a little tribe of children and raised rabbits and chickens and had a huge garden and used water from a creek and had a hitching post for my horse to visit and play cards. She died of multiple brain tumors all of a sudden when her son started doing wrong. Sometimes I think my grandmother was the last witch of our line, and that she was punished for manipulating men.

and my mother was a terrible mother. she blamed it on her childhood, but I could never hurt my daughter in any way. It crushes my soul to hurt her feelings. I understand WHY my mother does what she does, but not HOW she can be so evil.

I wish I had proof magic ever really existed in our world. It would be cool if I could be proud of her for ANYTHING. She was an amazing equestrian and business woman, but every relationship she ever had was transactional benefitting her, even mine. And then she gets depressed and withers it all away. I would put her through some sort of fantasy rehab or therapy if I had the power to force her. But she refuses to go.

I can’t put into words how this story helps me sort my feelings and haze over the ugly parts with fantasy. But I did get my daughter hooked on the comic version to help our existential discussions ? All we can do is our best. And we can’t change others, only ourselves.

But nothing replied. The afterlife was full of nothing. Not even [Witches].

The idea of a soul-eating monster that lurks in the afterlife and is trying to reach the world of the living is terrifying. An interesting new threat for sure but it annoys me to no end that it’s now confirmed that all the characters who have died have just been erased from existence by a monster instead of getting the afterlife they deserve. Zel, Garen, the original horns of hammerad, the monster-girl florist.

I wonder what that entity’s name is, and what Belavierr offered Ryoka.

There’s a rather big difference between torturing a prisoner that can’t fight back, and beating up an adult that beats their spouse/child. Beating someone up is painful, but it is a far cry from burning, stabbing, or cutting someone up.

It annoys me so much how all the main characters are just chill/openly in favor of hedag going around and attacking people, even criminals. We literally just had a whole chapter on why torturing prisoners is wrong lmao
