“and now deep guilt”

The previous chapter stated that Wiskeria didn’t actually feel guilt

I’d say this is a relatively inaccurate calculation, for a few reasons:

First, travel time during any given day is going to be heavily determined by when you could reliably reach the next village/town/city on your path that would actually have an inn or similar place to stay. You would generally not want to be camping out in the wilderness. Nor would you want to usually be running right at dawn and dusk, when the light is poor, due to the dangers of monsters (assuming you aren’t on a time-dependant delivery). So, there would be a decent chance that the 8 hours of running is actually all she does.

Second, even sleeping for 8 hours isn’t going to be all you’d need to replenish your stamina after running that far. Even with stamina potions, running ultramarathon distances per day is going to be exhausting. “Lazing around” for a few hours besides sleep is exactly what she would likely be doing – or if not “lazing around,” then at least resting and not doing anything strenuous. Doing that day after day, especially, is not even healthy – and, again, potions would help quite a lot, but that still wouldn’t be healthy at all. She is not likely to be running at world-record competition speeds day after day.

Third, Pallass is around 400 miles away from Liscor in a straight line. But the actual travel distance is likely much greater than that, due to the Bloodfields. If I had to guess, you are probably adding anywhere from 100-200 extra miles in distance between the two, by having to avoid the Bloodfields, possibly more.

So, sure, Ryoka might be able to theoretically run 100+ miles in a day. But she’s going to be limited by finding a safe place to stop. And without Skills and a system to help condition and replenish her body much faster than normal, keeping that pace up consistently would be very difficult. She’s probably still very far from being on par with Hawk.

Not for nothing, but isn’t what happens in the ritual very similar to what happened at the winter solstice?

That’s one part of being general, to bear responsibility of failure.

The proud owner of Ram’s Ranch?

Remember when Flos visited the bazaar and there was a snippet of scene where someone was all mangled up on the ground after falling off of a flying carpet?
Then there was the flapping-arm wall jumper dude from Pallas ,..
Those two get together and hire a witch to teach them the finer elements of [Broomstick Aviator].

… Does this make Alevica a [Broomstick Fighter Ace]? She didn’t shoot down enemy fliers, but she sure showed some Innworld air superiority. Even evaded Innworld’s version of a heat seeking missile!

… I hope the two luckless wannabe pilots get a [Good Witch] instructor. If they get Alevica the first lesson would likely be, “First take this broomstick and ram it up your _____! Here, let me light it on fire first!”

“Durene saw it go, or did she feel it.”

Should this have a question mark?

“It wasn’t so bad. I just built up there.”

Probably supposed to be “It just built up”.
