Homosexuality was also heavily frowned upon for reasons of population. Even just remaining unwed was often not considered as being acceptable.

Innworld doesn’t seem to have as many problems with children, specifically, dying very young, like Earth had during similar time periods. But they do have a massive problem of high death rates overall, due to constant wars and monsters. This could drive views regarding homosexuality in the same manner as on Earth, where population is a concern.

That being said, we’ve only really seen such sentiments from drakes, so far. It could very well be only drakes that are really against it. And if that viewpoint was due, originally, to population concerns, then it would make sense interracial pairings would be fine: there have been a couple references to mixed species being able to have children, even if it might require magic/potions to facilitate.

The Five Families (or whoever their initial predecessors might have been, if not them) all came over from Terandria in force, when they first first arrived. That’s basically the only reason they were able to take so much of the continent from.the drakes and gnolls: they had the numbers to force the other races south, mile by mile. But considering humans likely make large fleets all the time, an expedition like that wouldn’t be seen as anything really odd, until it was too late, which gave them the edge they needed to make a foothold on Izril.

With centaurs being afraid of boats, it isn’t strange they wouldn’t be able to come over in very large groups. Finding that many centaurs willing to do so would definitely be remarked upon, and would probably be viewed as an invasion force by just about everyone, and virtually everywhere with a coastline would be watching and ready to repel them.

They could, in theory, bring a bunch of families over in succession, over a decent period od time, and start a colony or found a town somewhere. It’s been noted that Izril hasn’t been anywhere close to fully explored. As long as they were willing to pioneer new areas, it wouldn’t be that hard to start building a sizeable group on centaurs there. Start with a few groups of centaur adventurers, so they weren’t locked into a single area. Bring 5-6 groups of silver ranks over like 2 years or so, maybe a gold rank team to lead them all. Then bring a few groups that could do the initial setup of a village within a couple months, and have those go exploring with all the adventurer groups. You’d have a village going far away from human populations, adventurers for protection, and then slowly migrate more people over.

I was under the impression that just recently he almost used info she gave him to kill her best friend and adopted daughter. I thought her business in Riverfarm involved chewing out Laken.

“Good food, right? I like staying at the Rose’s Retreat. It doesn’t have stairs and Miss Charlay gets oats just for me. You liked it?”

Does it really matter that much?

Not sure about Ryoka specifically, but I do find it extremely odd that homosexuality seems to be severely frowned upon on Innworld, particularly amongst the Drakes – and yet there seems to be little to no stigma to different species having relationships, affairs, marriage, etc.
Hastel and Rital in Talenqual, Jelaqua and Maugham at the Inn, Laken and Durene in Riverfarm, numerous glancing references to Selys and her friends varied dating habits, etc. – even the speculation around Ilvriss giving his ring to Erin.
When people express shock or reservation about some of these relationships (particularly Laken and Durene, Ilvriss and Erin) it seems to be much more about perceived class disparity rather that their mixed species.
And yet same-species homosexuality is bad?
Here on Earth it’s usually disparaged or forbidden on religious grounds, but since the gods of Innworld are long dead what is the societal mechanism that considers it so undesirable?
