She flopped into her seat, her scales beaded with perspiration.

I don’t understand drake biology, they’re reptiles and yet can sweat and flush?

Turnscale

I’m assuming this word is some kind of slang term for homosexuality, or perhaps an insult based on the context it was used in. I used to think it mean traitor, in a similar way to “turncoat”

Lastly, that spear dance section was something to behold, it would look fantastic if this book ever got some kind of comic or animation.

Levels in multiple classes don’t just add up like that. We’ve been told and shown multiple times that multiple classes of lower levels are nowhere near as strong as a single class of higher level.

A good way to think of it, is imagine you get <level> stat points at each level up. So at level 1 you get 1 point, 2 points at level 2, 3 points at 3, etc. Thus, a person with two level 30 classes would have a total of 930 stat points.

Following the same formula, a person at level 43 in a single class would have 946 stat points. A single class at level 60 would have 1830.

Thus a person at level 60 would basically be twice as strong as someone that had two level 30 classes, and about 4 times as strong as someone with only a.single level 30 class. Not to mention having much stronger Skills, especially their level 40, 50, and 60 capstone Skills.

It is also unlikely that Ryoka was entirely correct on her soft cap theory. While it is possible (and perhaps even very likely) that levels in multiple classes would slow you down due to cumulative levels, it is likely not a 1:1 effect. In other words, if you already had a level 30 class, getting level 1 in a different class probably doesn’t take nearly as much experience as getting to level 31 in your primary class. If you have two classes at level 30, getting to level 31 in either isn’t going to take as long as going from 60 to 61 in a single class – but it would take a fair bit longer than going from 30 to 31 if you only had a single class.

The skirmishes make sense. Even with a clearly defined lone between the regions for the hives and elsewhere, it wouldn’t be strange for both sides to try and push things on occasion.

I’d be willing to bet Embria does have a bit of a biased point of view, though. I could easily see drakes on patrol right at such a line, and then deliberately crossing over to patrol a few feet past the border, which then leads to the Antinium attacking them. Or some stupid merchants or something thinking they can shave off a bit of time by going through Antinium territory, getting killed, and then drakes “retaliating for the Antinium aggression” or whatever.

Not to say the Antinium couldn’t be as bad or worse. And I can also see them tunneling under villages close by and taking them all out. But I would still easily imagine the drakes being way more petty and aggressive more often.

I apparently had a friend whom I didn’t see for a few years and then who told me we were besties in elementary school. I have no memory of this. They were offended. I get it. I so get it.

A goblin killed my mom therefore I hate all goblins. That kind of logic just does not work for me. Because it isn’t logical, but she acts like it is.

Elirr: “No, Relc, I’m not selling you a trained attack sheep.”
Relc: “Aw, c’mon Beastie Boy … say, how ‘bout you train an Eater Goat for me? I bet one of those would take down a [Thief] real quick!”
Embria: “No, Dad. No Eater Goat for you.”
Elirr: “For the last time, it’s [Beast Trainer]! Call me Beastie Boy again and I’ll have ALL the cats piss on you!”
