Technically he has not declared war on Wistram, because they haven’t given him an answer whatsoever about Amerys. It’s very probable that he has done so, via this proclamation, but until he learns of the exact status of Amerys, it would be a complete guess. To go to war with them right now would effectively be breaking his word, even if it did turn out that Wistram was preventing her returning to him, in the end.

Without any spoilers, these chapters/characters do pan out a lot more later on, so they are useful to read. The main problem is Flos and his Seven.

Flos and his remaining Seven are all munchkin characters. While it’s sometimes nice to have super OP characters in a story, with the way Innworld works, it doesn’t make them exciting most of the time. Instead, it makes them rather boring for most people: they never really suffer any major setbacks or losses, they can always overcome obstacles with little to no real effort, etc. They don’t often add much to the story, besides “and soandso wins because they are OP”.

In other words, the worldbuilding itself is fine, the characters are the problem.

That being said, this particular set of K chapters wasn’t too bad, but a lot of it also didn’t focus specifically on Flos.

No one could quite remember when she’d appeared. It had to be five years ago? At least. But one day she’d shown up and started ordering people about.

So she’s Rasputin?

“Bear a weapon again and the peace of Pomle is gone for the nation who strikes. Is that clear?”

It’s wild to me that people could find these arcs to be tedious.

I have to assume it’s people that have no patience or respect for world building, and simply want to either read a simple slice of life story, or can’t digest anything more complex than Relc punching goblins.

I just don’t get it. Arcs like these are what make the story. The Wandering Inn is a story about a world, not just a building outside of Liscor.
