That whole pretense is complete and utter horsecrap, and shouldn’t even work. They have not only Message spells to broadcast exactly what Tyrion is doing to everyone, but now they have worldwide mage scrying to show exaxtly what he is doing.

He has around two dozen trebuchets. Even if they are hard to aim, the majority of shots should be hitting at least in proximity to their intended target. Having only 1 or 2 in each volley strike only the outlying areas of the Goblin Lord’s army, and having that be viewed by the entire world, would instantly show what Tyrion is trying to do. Not to mention that Liscor already warned him that using trebuchets at all would be an act of war – and such a Message should have been sent to everyone watching/listening.

Seriously, as soon as that first volley hit the city walls, all of the drake cities should have instantly messaged every single person in the world that Tyrion violated their treaties and they would be sending the full might of their armies to against the humans. Tyrion might be fine with war, but I can guarantee there would be a lot of people would not be happy at all for him unilaterally declaring war for their species.

Her inn isn’t really that strong of a defensive point, not against an army. It has extra magic and is on a hill, but that’s about it. It’s a 10 minute walk from the city, which is about a half mile. Meaning not much help from the walls of the city, especially if the armies just, y’know, attack from the other sides instead of the city side.

Her army is also probably quite a bit smaller than that. 24,000 cave goblins, 4,000 redfangs from Garen, and around 5,000-20,000 from Rags’ tribe, depending on how many followed Redscar.

It’s an interesting contrast and makes the characters stick out to me more, another reason to like this book.
