Hmm this is actually a good point that I didn’t consider! I wonder which will win out – love for Erin and their new home for the hobs and loyalty to their new beloved Hob leaders for the cave Goblins – or the magnetic pull of a Lord..

Yes! See this perfectly illustrates the voice of fear and skepticism that Olesm is grappling with…

Soo true, I think he is grappling with peer pressure and his still unlearned speciesist conditioning. He’s clearly having some inner conflict when it comes to the goblins, even Ilvris is a bit.

Omg yes thank you so much I love these points!! This is also why I love the wandering inn, it’s so meaningful and mirror’s such important real world issues, and even amidst the pain and horror there is still goodness. I love this quote that you shared, it resonates so much. Also now that you mention it, that is a really cute ship :,)

Omg agreed I loved this part! These moments of understated humor are one of my favorite parts of wandering inn

They were sent after the merger, they viewed garen as their tribe leader until they met the goul lady where they confirmed their alignment to rags

I would agree that Olesm is a pretty bad strategist most of the time, but for other reasons.

In this particular instance, however, I’d say you are quite incorrect.

No one knows how the mechanics of Goblin Lords works, how they draw in other goblins. The cave goblins are currently showing loyalty to the redfang hobs, yes. But there is absolutely nothing that shows they wouldn’t just join with Reiss when he shows up.

The cave goblins helping save the gnolls wasn’t helping them to against other goblins. It wasn’t even really them helping the gnolls. It was the cave goblins helping the hobs, and to a lesser extent, Erin.

Taking a chance on possibly sitting 24,000 fresh troops right in the path of Reiss is NOT sound strategy whatsoever. If there was a way the redfangs could absolutely, 100% guarantee the cave goblins would help Liscor, then maybe it would be an okay idea. But even then, the political optics would be awful for Liscor. And in the grand scheme of things, 24,000 weak cave goblins would not be that big of an asset compared to what they are up against. Definitely not worth the political fallout, nor the potential for them to turn traitor and help the Goblin Lord.
