The first group was only a few thousand goat, iirc.

The second group were drawn by the smell of all those goats killing things, and then the goblins killing each other.

Remember that eater goats are basically fearless. They don’t see hundreds of thousands of humans and goblins as a threat. That’s just an all-you-can-eat buffet. They don’t normally get anywhere close to this much food traveling through the high passes at once.

The Celum door is also currently inactive. Olesm confiscated the mana stone for it, so that the gold rank teams couldn’t leave.

They probably used to. And then Az’Karesh happened, and everyone started to hate necromancers.

It was stated before in the story that necromancy was not always frowned upon like it is now. Hell, Peril Chandler – before he became Az’Karesh – was literally an Archmage of Wistram.

Now, no one trusts them. And it sort of creates a self-fulfilling prophecy situation for them. They can’t learn anything except through illegal or immoral means, which makes people distrust and hate them more, which makes them less likely to be able to move around normally in society. So they have to hide, and do everything in secret, and are forced into ever worse situations, which requires them to do more illegal or harmful things, making people distrust them further, and so on.

It’s intolerance at its finest, all because people are dumb and emotional, instead of being logical.

It’s possible he has something like that, but you can also do the same type of thing as a rough estimate with only a small bit of knowledge of rather basic math. It wouldn’t be perfect, by an means, but it would be able to give a guesstimate like he makes within the realm of possibility.

For example, count how many goblins he sees in a single row on one of the hills. Multiply that by how many goblins deep that row seems to be. Multiply that by how many hills they cover.

Doing that, plus some sort of Assess Army skill – which would also probably give a rough estimate based on the same type of info, done unconsciously by the system – and you’d have two figures to give yourself an average.

However I feel like the numbers of the goblins have gotten really skewed tbh lol. Didn’t it say Garen had about 800 goblins in his tribe in a previous chapter. Now I understand he got some of Tremborags and rags redfangs, but it said he has nearly 7000k carn wolf riders now??? I can understand cave goblin inflation more since there easily could have been a ton still in the dungeon.
