English as a language was only developed about 1,600 years ago, give or take. Innworld Common seems to have been the universal language for the world for much, much longer than that.

With the fae – and possibly others – being able to move between worlds, they could have brought tidbits from Innworld or other realms to Earth. When the fae permanently left Earth, things stopped being brought over, and Earth developed naturally from that point. Now the Earthers are starting to bring our advancements to Innworld.
