Also, how come the ropes got all the way down, dont they float?, or are they magics rope?!, could be a stone or something tied at the end of it? lol, i would expect 10 meters of rope have some buoyancy on it.

also nice mindgames with pices, ceria and company, everyone knows there is a dungeon, but nobody cares, suddenly, just cuz the hive that actually wants all the help, have “suspiciously” fortifications into the endless dungeon, everyone gonna want to send all the helps. and maybe calruz would make a reappearance, very nice, although following tendecy i believe that would take 2 volumes more to go anywhere.

last point, the not gnolls are veryly intelligent, use of tools, comand chains, and seethingn hatred to anything that is not yourself seems common point with bloody civilized people, the goblos are not monsters and so they can level up, they cannibals out of necesity, yet they didnt gain the red monster levels, feels incongruent that the not gnolls are labeled as monsters, perhaps a future pov as them is in order?, another twist about them being people-people.

Flawless Attempt has been described as allowing for Lyonette’s current best effort in doing something. Learning a piece of magic is basically all-or-nothing: you don’t learn the spell at all until you do. So her “best attempt” at the spell would equate to doing absolutely nothing, as she can’t cast or even comprehend it in the slightest at the moment. Even for a spell she has “learned” 99% of, that 99% would be her current best effort.

As far as learning other skills, there probably are some methods, to an extent. However, it was noted way early on that not everyone learns the same skills, so there is likely an element of randomness. You could make a training program for Power Strike, sure…. but you might learn Heavy Blow, or Hard Strike, or any number of other similar skills instead.

Depending on how the system works, that might also mean you are “locked out” of learning other skills in the same pool of similar skills.

Judging by how many video games in our world often seem like they have a “desire sensor” when you are grinding something specific, I could easily see such training methods backfiring somewhat with a system that is almost certainly integrated somehow with our brains/souls.

While not disputing that the door was more than enough payment for what Erin actually invested in their team up to this point, I think it’s worth mentioning that the value of said door was vastly increased by Erin’s usage of it.

The teleportation effect is tied to the door, not just some small glyph or even the anchors used to make the other doors. And the door has been described as being quite very heavy – heavy enough that it is a struggle for a single person to move.

If the Horns had tried to use the door for their original ideas – either as an indestructible shield, or as an escape method – they would have had to haul around that heavy door everywhere they went. Which would likely be seen as rather strange, and would be a pretty easy target for it getting stolen, just to see why an adventurer team was lugging such a thing around.

They might have hit upon the same idea Erin had, and turned it into an actual portal door, and could have sold it for vast sums that way themselves. But none of them were originally thinking of it as such, and many people do overlook simple things such as that, so it’s entirely possible they never would have thought of it.

But, again, even had they done so, they wouldn’t have had the door in a place that is effectively a leyline. That means that, while a portal door would have been useful, it would be severely underpowered compared to what it’s like at the inn.

So yes, definitely more than enough repayment for her investment. But the value of the door as Erin’s possession is many, many times greater than it would have been in the hand of the Horns.

I’d never have found this story otherwise! Also, have I mentioned Pisces is my favorite character? He’s fantastic. :)

I know I’m years behind but I just wanted to say you’re probably my favorite author… and I’ve read a lot, like A LOT, of books. I found you through audible, I bought volume 1 and immediately purchased vol 2, and I’ve pre-ordered volume 3. After I finished vol 2 I needed more and I was so excited when I found out this was a web series!! I love these audiobooks more than I can express with words! The narrator is fantastic, seriously one of the best I’ve heard! I’m so glad you changed your stance on turning TWI into audiobooks. You’re doing amazing things and I literally haven’t read/listened to anything else for months. I still plan on purchasing every audiobook even though I’m determined to catch up in the web series. So yeah, you’re amazing ??
