Erin sniffed into Pisces’ robes. The [Necromancer] squeezed her ever so hesitantly and then stepped back.
“That you care matters.”

Bury me with this goodbye okay?????? T_T T_T T_T I feel like their moments can be few and far between now with so many characters (while the internal narration implies how often they chat) but their softness with each other, especially now and in serious moments like these, really gets me <3 <3 Erin x Pisces my beloveds <3 the little squeeze is killing me T_T (the choked up performance of Andrea in the audiobook also really sells this moment T_T ) I’m never letting go of this ship tbh

say, looks like ryoka was here on spirit calling everyone cowards for not dropping the dice, cuz thats what the adventurers with no thought for planning are doing, gambling their lives, and to bad odds no less, it feels like they are pretty full of themselves, and that the city that is bloody aware that the sogging dungeon can spill out unholy dooms would put a stop to bloody gamblers, or at least siegue or concrete the known entrances ffs.
as a side thought, why 4 goblins, im sure there were 5, unless someone fucking died offscreen again, like wise what happend to the virael druel or something, the boy toys for our mind-troubled skellington

I really liked that you gave a quick summary at one point of some of the many side characters you’ve introduced rather than giving each a chapter.
But I say write how you want. A reader can just skim/skip the side character sections if they want to focus on the main characters.
I appreciate your story so much and am enjoying switching back and forth between this and the audiobook version.

It wouldn’t be that hard to get to gold rank without actually doing any dungeon runs. Especially when the leader is from a noble family (even a small one would be able to provide a decent bit of support, especially to a first son), another member is a full Wistram-trained mage, and the third presumably has enough skill to match the other two. There are tons of non-dungeon monsters to slay and ways to level besides dungeons.

That being said, they should have a bit more caution, true. What I would guess, though, is that they don’t believe this part to yet be the “true” dungeon, where they actually need to use that caution. If they’ve never been in a dungeon before, especially not one this trapped and deadly, they might think any entrances are relatively safe.

I know smaller bugs can swim but people-sized ones should sink like stones.

Since you asked about “volumes,” the only real issue is where the audio production cuts are. Some feel a bit abrupt, in the middle of an arc. Part of what I love about what you’re doing is that you are not stuck in traditional modes of publisher-molded demands. You can do stuff we wouldn’t get, if this weren’t a webseries, and that’s fantastic. Break the mold, please! Keep smashing.

I seem to recall that at the beginning Pallas’ Watch was going to Message Liscor every time someone wanted to travel via the door.

Why not have Pisces (or a specialist mage) create a simple magic doorbell with different chimes that would sound in TWI?
In Liscor? Push the button next to the door and a bell will ring in the inn. Pallas could be a chime. Celum a buzzer.
Or Erin could install different colored gemstones on a small shelf next to the door and when someone from that city “pushed the doorbell,” the gemstone for that city would light up.

It’s a simple version of a Message spell.
Just a thought …

“I think so. Rot, rot, rot. How did we not think of this?”
“They never said!”
“Said what?”

Do they suspect that the silver swords are not experienced in dungeon delving, only in battle? I can hardly think of another interpretation of that exchange. Hm, next chapter will tell what the problem is…

Also, the description of the spider pit was awesome.

This entire affair had begun over Juliet and Romeo, a slightly updated take on the *Shakespearian classic.

*Nairlen’s voice was tight as he aimed and loosed.

Earlia used her Skill too early to crush a *Rasgkhar’s guard and break the screaming monster’s ribs.
