When the gods (presumably) were trying to create the system of leveling, the world didn’t originally have nearly as many monsters as it currently does. This would provide inadequate ways for people to level, with the exception of the various races fighting amongst themselves. However, this would be extremely unfair, as some races would have overwhelming natural advantages over others, without the system to balance things out.

So, the gods also created goblins. And they created them specifically to the enemy of all races, and placed an effect on all existing races to have a natural inclination towards seeing goblins as monsters, and an effect.on goblins to make them be antagonistic towards the other races.

These magical effects wax and wane, so eventually, goblins were able to make peace with the other races. However, when a Goblin King arises, and they gain the ability to see back far enough in their history, they realize that they were created to be hunted, to be fodder for the other races to level. This heightens their natural antagonism effect, leading to a great fury such that peace no longer becomes an option. They have to strike back, and destroy all the other races, so that they can finally be “free”. Unfortunately, by doing so, they reinforce the magical inclination in the other races, making them again see goblins as nothing but monsters, and fighting them until goblins are sufficiently beaten back.

Thus, the cycle continues. Goblins make peace until a King is able to develop, goblins and other races fight, and goblins always lose because they are designed to lose, in the end. And the knowledge that they are designed to lose continually drives the cycle over and over.

“I wanted to say—want to say—say…”

“Thank you.”

Was just devastating, she’s been through so much.

Selyss and Rags’ little sagas. Lots of soft feelings and crying and hard decisions.

typo: Of the Goblins who’d {attacked Welca}, only three had survived. All of them had gone in with the first wave, taken the brunt of the Human’s arrows and spells. –> attacked Welca = been attacked?
