I think you’re missing the point. He didn’t need to update it because nothing had changed. The fact that he now had the priceless armour isn’t going to make him any less likely to leave it to Selys, if anything it would make home more likely. He didn’t neglect to change the will, he had no reason to.

In addition, barring one or more of the people listed in his will doing something bad enough to necessitate him removing them, or some extreme change in his possessions, there wouldn’t be much cause to update it. He’d accounted for basically all of his estates and possessions.

His family didn’t seem like!e they interacted with him much at all, so unless someone was deliberately trying to get removed from the will, that probably wasn’t an issue. He didn’t have a (current) lover, or children, or anything like that, and seemingly not even any really great friends he might bequeath something to. He never really used artifacts much, and the Heartflame Breastplate was way too recent to account for.

A battle probably wouldn’t really affect much, as he was regularly fighting in various wars and conflicts. Once he had the will set, there wouldn’t be much need to change it before each battle.

I haven’t read ahead but I assume Zel asked to be buried with that general from the Antinium war. I imagine his family is homophobic.
