It’s definitely not strictly slice of life, it just contains slice of life chapters. I am also in the same boat. I wish that this was more like 80% slice of life and 20% intensity. I keep reading though and am coming to adapt, for instance skimming the chapters or scenes that I know will be more traumatic and intense. More gentle and kind to my nervous system

Ahahha so true about Teriarch, the phrase couch potato dragon gave me some much needed laughter after this intense sad chapter

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I don’t find any part of this offensive! It feels like you have a genuine wish to see more representation, and would be happy that such a cool badass powerful character were a member of our community, which in my mind is beautiful and I share that sentiment!

Although (and this is not a gripe with your comment, more a gripe with the story so far) the fact that Zel’s queerness is revealed/implied only at death kinda sucks – like can we please get more explicity queer (as opposed to implied queer) and also LIVING queer characters? And yes as much as I love trans Toren, she doesn’t count! She’s an amazing start, AND WE NEED MORE! <3

All of his death flags an storyline made it seem as if he would have a showdown with AZ that the world would watch, highlighting the power and threat of the Necromancer. Not getting ganked in an arena with everyone blind.

Rereading years later, I now have to believe that the authors original intent was for this to be near the end of twi story as a whole. And the success of the story made them want to keep it going. Because their is major plot hole that’s only visible in hind sight years later.

I’ll try to be vague in case someone comes across this as a first time reader, but their is a character introduced later on who would either have joined zel or supplied him with some insanely powerful potions when Zell went north. Due to their similar situations, and the personality of the character, it’s frankly impossible to believe they would ignore Zell and this goblin lord. But this character hasn’t been written at this point in the story, and likely hasn’t been created in the authors notes either, which comes across as a lack of planning for that far in the future. Which brings me back to, this was meant to be the end of an act and the beginning of the end of twi.

I know there are allot of seeds planted for future events, but they come across as “just in case I continue this”more than clues for the reader, planning for the future in a concrete way, and a “I will continue this”.

Ah Zell. What could have been if there had been a light in the darkness with you.

Regardless, in case author reads this, thank you for your work. It is one of the greats in my opinion. Especially in these early days when character count and number of plotlines was relatively small.

I have to admit, for me this was peak twi. Not to say any of the following arcs are necessarily bad (pof excepting, and it wasn’t bad per se, just too convoluted for my taste), they just never reach this height again.

He may have had reasons in the past, but at this point I think he is just completely consumed by a lust for power and superiority of the dead over the living

I will miss Zel but it was nice to see him go out as a parental inspiration to Reiss. Hopefully that influences them to be a more positive character in the future. Seems like magnolia is finally going to let the cat out of the bag as well.

My heart. He was just starting to realize goblins were people. I had such high hopes he’d make a little goblin/antinium battle team. I did figure Apprentice/Reiss was too far gone for redemption.
Did Sserys love him back like Periss and WallJerk or was it another unrequited-inappropriate-power-imbalance-love-block like the winged cousins? I don’t think it was one sided if they talked about what they’d name their babies. I had thought they were just Mentor/Mentee, and that ship crashed me like an iceberg.
Did the 3rd Centinium really kill Sserys like Xyr alluded or was it Klbkch?
I did appreciate everyone in the whole world refreshing on what a hero he was. It wouldn’t be such a high stakes story if no one ever died.

So many questions, and I can only read so quickly! ??

Zel/Sserys, the tragic love that would never be. Maybe THAT was why Zel was a confirmed bachelor with no apparent interest in ladies and having children
