The lucky shot pieced the Goblin King’s skull and killed him in an instant.

pieced –> pierced

Zel is one person. He’s individually strong, yes, but he’s also focused more heavily on the defensive side of things. Additionally, he was leading a coalition army from multiple smaller cities, not exactly a truly unified army.

Ilvris is from Salazar, the wealthiest Walled City. His soldiers likely all came from there, and were probably quite very well equipped. I imagine he probably outnumbered Zel’s side, too, seeing as they needed armies from multiple cities just to put up an effective fight. While Ilvris was the main person in charge, he probably also had a number of lower commanders, most of which were probably superior to the commanders on Zel’s side.

So, Zel very well could have been the strongest single person in their engagement, but overall, Ilvris’s side was of a higher quality altogether.

As well, we know that when drakes fight other drakes, they generally aren’t going for all-out complete destruction of the other side. Regular soldiers will die, sure, but the officers are typically spared. Even regular soldiers will probably be more likely to live due to skills and such, compared to a war between “real” enemies. That means there is going to be much less of a feeling of danger for people like Zel and Ilvris, and so they generally won’t take things quite as seriously.

“While no Drake army ever fought with an Antinium army,”

1. This sounds like he is talking about Drakes fighting against Antinium. Perhaps,is should be “fought beside”.
2. This is false. They were just fighting together at Liscor.

Combined with the [Piercing Shot] Skill, her arrow would have stood a good chance of piercing even the Goblin King’s skin at point-blank rank.
Should the last word (rank) be “range”?

The Antinium wars 1 was a lot better written than the part 2, and now I realized why – Magnolia funded and supported the first part, but the second part had no editorial oversight anymore.

Very fitting. At least, there were slices of life commentary sprinkled in to put stuff in context.

“For our {aide} against the Necromancer and promise of aide against the Goblin King, we signed a peace treaty. The terms of which included establishing a Hive in Liscor.”
{aide} -> {aid} An aide is an assistant.

“Tyrion eyed his {son and} turned his head to look at the other occupant of the bed.”
Extra space.

“Combined with the [Piercing Shot] Skill, her arrow would have stood a good chance of piercing even the Goblin King’s skin at point-blank {rank}.”
{rank} -> {range}?

“So soon. But the Goblin Lord had turned towards Invrisil, against all expectations.”
Extra space between sentences.
