I get that shes not racist and that all goblins aren’t the same. But for a species that predominately SA’s women, I find it hard to believe that she would be this focused on helping them.

I dunno, I have read so many books and there is just no rational logic behind why the character would act this way in the face of everything and get away with it.

If I was the watch I would just cut her down and move on. It’s just stretching my suspense of disbelief very far. There is no way that Liscor would allow this to continue. It’s basically irrational plot armor all the way through.

I would argue Erin’s actions at the village weren’t air headed. The goats clearly had a way of getting into the village, with enough persistence. Wirclaw’s arrows were doing essentially nothing to stop them. The goblins would be a good distraction, but they were massively outnumbered.

Considering there had been zero response at all from the city until way after the goblins were at the Inn itself, we can assume that no help would have been arriving anytime soon. The goblins likely could have killed a few more goats, but they were already down to their last bits of strength – most of their weapons gone, injured, etc.

Had Erin not gone out when she did, the village likely would have still had at least a dozen, if not more goats still around once the goblins were dead. Eater Goats can eat stone and metal, they probably would have started chewing through the wooden walls eventually.

Would it have been possible for the village to make it? Sure. But the odds probably would have been worse.

I do wonder how people have so quickly forgotten the positive days with the goblin king, where they traded with one another. Should place them above monsters from that alone.

I wish to see more bridging the gap between goblins and the ‘civilised’ world. Great work.

I am disliking Erin more and more as the chapters progress. It doesn’t feel like her character has progressed at all. She’s the same vapid, thoughtless person she has be from the beginning. It’s like the whole thing about insanity. Doing the same thing and expecting different results. Even with Ryoka calling her out on her bullshit about the slime doesn’t change anything. Erin uses people and then tosses them aside the next time something shiny pops up. Her being cool with Zel moving out after everything he’s done for her. Telling people it’s her way or the highway. She’s just so damned American (and i say this as one myself) trodding over other people’s customs and cultures. And yeah…you can make the excuse that it’s for a good cause in some of the instances (especially with Lyon and our cute lil fluff ball) but just look at the trail of destruction she has left in her wake. Her thoughtless actions have repeatedly dropped bodies and estranged friends who have done nothing but give.

I don’t mean to be entirely negative. I like this story and the various viewpoints. This story has brought great guffaws of laughter as well as real tears. There is so much wondrous world building and I can tell how much care has gone into this. I will continue to read on. I have great love for Ryoka, Pawn, and many of the others. I tremble with eagerness to know their fate. Erin…not so much at this point.

You suggested the last goblin king was friendly and traded before he ‘went nuts’ and fought the other races. I’m calling it now and putting my money on the table before I read any further: the last goblin king went nuts BECAUSE one or more other races attacked the goblins, unprovoked.

The lingering racial and cultural resentments of war are a major theme here; see also Rhir and the may-not-actually-be-demonic-at-all Demon King, and the utterly pointless Liscor army that isn’t even all that friendly to Liscor.

Or possibly, the opposite.
