Pawn and the Antinnium in general are some of my favorite characters. I feel so much for these individual soldiers. And oh man, when I realized that the one soldier who had originally been painted by Myrsha had died, that really hit me.

It was comforting to see that Pawn was able to weep, even if he couldn’t physically shed tears, he deserves to weep and cry. I don’t know what I’d do without being able to cry.
And I love that the solders crowded around him and that they held each other. At least they get to bond and comfort each other through non-verbal methods of communication, which are sometimes exactly what you need in times or grief and sorrow. I hope they continue to learn more ways to express themselves and feel more and more safe and comfortable doing so, both in times of grief and also in times of joy, wonder, inspiration, humor, play, etc. especially around each other and Pawn. They are like a family.
And I’m so glad they found a way to memorialize the fallen soldiers and remember them.

Oh and yay for the other hives’ Antinnium coming to lend their strength. The small queen is incredible, I got chills. And that other Revelantor actually reflected and grew from his confrontation with Pawn – those were both really satisfying additions and feel like hopeful signs for what’s to come.
I hope the Antinnium can continue to learn from each other and find a meaningful and positive path forward together (hopefully in a non-violent way that doesn’t include or lead to war with the rest of the species)

Crying tears of sorrow, admiration, respect, and tenderness.

If I remember correctly the first batch of soliders were painted by everyone in the inn at the time after Misha painted the first, so people who could write probably painted those ones

Prior to Bird announcing what he did in the previous chapter, I don’t believe anyone actually knows that the Antinium are fighting anything at all. I can’t really remember if anyone ever actually finds out the extent of the fighting within the hive.

There would be no reason for Erin to offer such food (unless maybe the Queen herself wanted to try it) without that knowledge. Klbkch could probably request it, but it might be difficult to hide exactly how much of her foods she was making for the hive, if that were to happen, which could lead people to start asking questions.

Queens are everything to the Hive. The workers and soldiers might not know exactly who she is, but by announcing she is a Queen, that would instantly relegate her to being one of the foremost important beings for the Antinium.

As Xrn isn’t part of Liscor’s hive directly, its very possible she can’t use the same telepathic-style commands that the Liscor Queen and Klbkch can, at least not with the Antinium of this hive. Thus, saying it out loud is the only way she can rally them all.

Plus, considering the other Antinium are basically completely silent, having the monsters hear her shouting that could be demoralizing to some, assuming they have enough cognitive function to feel that.
