Do you consider it slavery to own a horse that you use to pull s plow, or a carriage? Is it slavery to own a cow so you can milk it whenever you want? Is it slavery to own chickens so you can steal and eat their eggs?

Toren was never a slave. He was a crafted tool that followed orders, little better than a robot. Even now, he has only a very basic level of sentience, probably less than most animals.

To call it slavery is to spit in the face of every actual slave that ever existed.

God this has been incredibly rewarding I know it shouldn't be so rewarding but I have often found that common sense is the least common of the senses. ? I would have preferred that Toren not do atrocities so that Eerin could forgive him and then they would be a happy family? Definitely yes but what's done is done and cannot be changed. I would prefer this novel to have a happier tone, too, but I am not the author.

Erin cam be airhead and weird on her decision skills but she made the right thing to do and had the conviction for it. She may treated Toren badly but that came from the knowledge that Toren is a thing, a tool, and it’s not her fault but yes, her responsibility.

Anyway, I’m happy as I thought this will be another Ryoka’s chapter. Well, I also enjoyed goading Ryoka here to die every chapter I’ve read when she’s in it. Though I kinda feel bad about it now, that’s so evil. I’ll just hope she’ll suffer a coma and only wakes up to the last volume.
