Ye, that’s what I mean- Dragoneye Moons came out later, and I’m saying Selkie was probably inspired to write it partially because of this line. DM has made references to TWI that imply this story was an inspiration for Selkie, and I can see that more strongly in this chapter than anywhere else.

The ending was so beautiful. She went through so much. I felt for her so viscerally, and then to have that confirmation that she really was making a difference. And after being so alone in it all, she finally had someone else to look out for her too. She got to be saved, like she saved so many others. And she became a symbol of hope and life… . I really really hope that this story continues

Also, as a chronically ill person who’s encountered a lot of hardship with medical treatment and professionals, this chapter gave me more empathy and compassion for people who go into the field hoping to do good and are then faced with their own limitations, and the limitations of their circumstances.

I don’t know if you will ever see this. If you do, just know it’s beautiful and you are creating something magical like the magic in your story. Thank you. And thank you to everyone else commenting and reading. Grateful that we all get to be connected in this way across time and space through this beautiful chapter and story.
