Also I know I’m 8 years late to this journey – congrats on quitting your day job though and transitioning to full time writing so happy to see how well it’s worked out for you!! It’s so cool to read all these comments about your writing journey from 8 years ago, feels like a little time capsule

Also wow – the faeries seem to really like Ryoka now. Like and respect her. Something about her not having levels seems to have changed their minds to the point where they made a tiny spring world for her and even shed their wintery states briefly. That feels like they’ve adopted her as their human child at this point that’s how above and beyond they’re going for her

And I am emotional.
Ho ryouka, you are on the path of redemption.

pretty sure the 2nd price is the goblin lord not dying. the drakes were about to go kill him before the ice from the faeries caught their attention and made them go back to save the gnolls. hes going to bring about a disaster far worse than a single gnoll tribe’s death i suspect.

It helps that Ryoka is giving up so much (the advantages of levels) in return for the special person status, in my opinion.

Is it something more intangible than an immediate loss of something? Is it now bindingly giving up on levels? Is the price that the Gnoll adults all died? Is the price just losing two fingers (and not even really important ones)? Or is the price gonna be revealed in the next chapter and this comment is just impatient questioning

The first price was gnoll tribe, if she didn’t go to the mountain for the girl then the tribe would haven’t have stayed, they’d move next to the army and survive the initial ambush, the second price is unknown but it at least involves the child considering her fur got bleached white
