Having read through volume nine, this is pretty much the only place that anyone treats half elves as actual half species, rather than their own species. They’re not significantly more connected to elves than drakes are to dragons or Jinn were to Djinni. Gazers are more of a half species than half elves are, even if they keep that on the down low.
