I can see it being in line with the magic system. Scrying needs a specific target, so targeting “iPhones” would probably not be too bad. You’d have all the different versions of them, but even on Earth, basically everyone knows what you mean when you say iPhone.

Trying to target every so for make/model of android? Way, way harder. A more generic “cell phone” would probably not be specific enough for a good scry.
