Erin may see Toren as a complicated Roomba. A safe target to unleash her frustrations.

But I agree, it’s odd, since he seems to have body language.

She usually shows kindness and open-mindedness to newcomers, so it’s odd that she’s so harsh with someone or something that essentially carries the weight of 90% of the chores around the inn. It doesn’t even seem like she harbors prejudice against the undead or necromancers in general. So why treat the skeleton so roughly after all that help? Maybe there’s something deeper about her personality that I’m missing?

It was less “fight” and more “scramble for survival”

She does. That’s why she learned. She just doesn’t like it.

Erin stared around. She wanted to know if that was what Calruz was talking about. She looked at the Minotaur. He was gaping at her, mouth wide open, eyes bulging.

YAAAY NEW ERIN TALENT! I bet the elf spell that mucked everything up selected people with some degree of natural combat talent, latent or otherwise.

“…What a crappy thing to be good at.”

I hope she eventually realizes that there’s more that she can protect with this talent than herself. If she had been slightly better at fighting before, Klbchk may not have died, for instance.
She’s gaining the power to protect the things she cares about. I hope she wakes up to the value of that soon. Maybe the problem is that she’s never fully felt the frustration of helplessness? I dunno.

I think Saruui meant the one where they broke into her house. I’m pretty sure she killed no goblins then

If you haven’t already noticed, that’s kind of the point. It’s an intentional flaw in her character, much like Ryoka.
