I knew from the start she will be troublesome at the future. But didn’t hate her up until now.

He is offended by weakness and has a moral code that ensures those he deems worthy be strong or be made so. He pines for the female he left behind or lost. Lonely. I’d love to see him at some point charmed enough, perhaps by Erin’s magic music, to try to write a poem. That could be hilarious.

Gazi… she’s actually very transparent. She exists solely to serve and return her King of Destruction. She will charm, befriend, kill, or do whatever it takes to serve her purpose. She is thus extremely dangerous. And she believes that Erin and Ryoka are important to her king. At least she’s not a spiteful small-minded piece of crap like Persua. She’d rather use charm than torture to get the information she seeks … thankfully. At least we don’t need to worry much about anyone with a smattering of knowledge of this world underestimating her.

Erin, on the other hand, is an idiot. I realize the chess games play a central role in causing the advancement and growth of a number of important characters… but… get your head out of the queen’s as*, stop kissing the bishop’s ring, and worry about a castle that doesn’t involve a rook. Look around you girl. Listen. LEARN. Become more than a pawn. And, for lord’s sake show some grudging respect for Toren . He is the single most unique character by far. An undead that learns, cares, and levels.

This is my first run through waiting reading the wandering inn and my first comment ?
How the hammers treat Ryoka is so interesting. After what she’s done, you’d expect them to, if not hate her, dislike her at the very least. I think all they’ll need is an apology and a promise to do better, when they meet again, which is sweet.
And Calruz is gone for her ?
Erin’s my favorite though. Her immortal moment skill and how she uses it feels so moving and important.

“The king is smart and uses his head. For if he moves, he’ll soon be dead.”

Aw. The inn isn’t gonna wander, is it. :(

Its his sole direct-attack skill. He probably has quite a few other skills in general, especially given his level. But he has likely never needed any other purely skill-based attack as yet, given his natural strength and training.

Skills are gained partially as a result of need. If he has no need of other skills to attack, due to his own natural combat prowess, then he’d get other kinds of skills. Skills that might let him dodge or block attacks, or perhaps some sort of ‘Charge!’ Skill, bonuses to his natural strength/stamina, leadership skills, taunts, etc.

There’s a large number of skills that would be eminently worthwhile for a warrior, without them being actual straight-up attacks.

“Yes. It is my sole Skill.”

We are being told that at level 20+ Calruz has a single skill?
That’s a tough one to swallow.

In fact, I like this even more.
