I think the author pretty clearly signals that her lack of social niceties here, and general brash demeanor, is due to a dead social battery. She even mentions that she doesn’t want to be around them because she cares, and recognizes that she’s out of social juice. Sure, she’s a bit of an a-hole sometimes, but I think a large part of it here is “I am exhausted and out of place socially”

Ryoka is absolutely an asshole. She does slowly become less of an asshole, but this is a long story and major personality shifts like that do actually take some time.

Sorry miss but if that isn’t amzing in your ‘book’ then I fear to know what actually does Qualify for amazing in it.

On the other hand I also understand her frustration of being cornered time and time again by Mangnolia , This ‘Lady’ really keeps nearing my bar for the least likable character in the Novel ……….Of course Persua has already topped that least by a wide margin.

I for once like both for different things. And don’t like both for others.

Ryoka’s adventures are aprouched in a more cleaver way than Erin’s. Wich makes it easier to read through. Besides she defies a cheating system, so thumbs up. However she hates everyone at first sight and is a narcisist (interesting to read but annoying at the same time, its a first for me).
Erin can be very dumb at times (she showed all her money at the market). But she is kind hearted and doesn’t let her morals slide away just because it is easier to make a blind eye to things. And the antinium and Rags are very cool to read about.
I like the contrast between the humans and Liscorians. We are expecting that with humans (The ones we are more familiar with) it would be easier to live by. But for now the gnolls and some drakes have been more nice and inviting, even though they show a bit of xenophobia and racism.

To be fair she’s not good at chemistry, she just remembers a tidbit from a chemistry class and it’s the tidbit she really wishes she didn’t know, how to make gunpowder is just one of those ‘huh I should google that’ questions
